Hockey Numbers

Welcome to my hockey statistics site. There is a lot of data that I have attempted to summarize into simple tables. Not all the data here you will be familiar with. There is a glossary of terms to help you get started. The primary focus of this site right now is looking at how well GM's are building their teams in the off season. What matters most importantly in the salary cap era is getting into the playoffs. Some teams seem to be obviously making others are on the border and others are failing miserably. There's a lot of time yet before the season starts. I hope you all enjoy this site.

I recently added the playoff data to this site including player contribution in the playoffs. These numbers are re-scaled to account for number of games played so that I can campare a player in the first round to one in the third. It is important to note that this data has a tons of error in it (a lot less for Edmonton and Carolina). Also all teams didn't face the same or even similar opponents.

This is primarily for fun, however if there are those out there who are interested in more detail about their individual players or are looking for some cheap consulting on signings and player quality based on mathematical analysis feel free to contact me.
